Yes, we had puppies in 2025!! Tinie’s litter was born in March!

After a break of more than 4 years, we’ve finally had a litter of puppies! Our dearest Tinie, Darmatic Martini Uut de Slikhoek, had a wonderful litter.

They were all born inside of one hour!!! It was a beautiful litter of two boys and two girls on the 24th of March. This was our “I” litter, and so the puppies are Imagination, Iridessa, Ifigenia and Irrepressible. But we called them Teddy, Rosie, Blossom and Jamie. As they have been going to their new homes, some of them are also getting new “house names”. Blossom is now Millie, and Jamie is now Zeus. But their pedigree names will stay the same!

We thought the dad of all the litters was our MandalaDax Dream Puptjie. At 5 weeks, the chipper came and gave them their microchips and took there DNA…. And that’s when the interesting thing happened — only one of the puppies was from Dreamer (Rosie)! And it happened because we REALLY wanted a litter from Tinie and Hermes (Hermes MandalaDax Bassotti di Spalato). Tinie comes from the Yestie/Makar side of our dogs, but Hermes came from the Vicky side – and I was really hoping to merge the two in this litter. Peony’s second litter was like that – it was Peony (Vicky’s daughter) x Dreamer (Yestie and Makar’s son). This one would have Yestie and Makar’s granddaughter mated to Vicky’s great grandson…. I was loving the idea. So we tried. With help for the mating. But it looked like nothing had worked, so as a backup to using Hermes, we used good old Dreamer who always does the business. So I get a letter that says, one or more pups isn’t from the sire you’ve listed on your mating form. Oh oh, I think, now what??? They asked if there was another male I had which it could be. And I think, well possibly Hermes?? So I hand matched the puppies DNA to Tinie, Dreamer and Hermes and I figured out that Rosie was from Dreamer and the other three definitely were Hermes. And indeed when they matched the DNA officially, that was the case. So Mr. I’m Not Interested was interested enough to produce three of the four puppies!! And I had a litter which had the puppies I wanted in it.

I wanted to keep a girl puppy from this combination.. But the girl pup from Hermes and Tinie had a white patch on her chest. So currently Rosie is living here but she has a home lined up for her in the new year when their farm renovation is done and when it’s a safe homestead for her to be living. So all of these pups are either in their homes or will be shortly.

We will absolutely repeat the mating of Hermes and Tinie next Summer when she comes in season again. She’s in season now but that’s too soon, and she’s on a 7.5 month cycle, so I imagine we may have new Tinie pups in June 2026 with some luck!
