MandalaDax Litter “J”

The Mum:

Good Point Legenda (Lilu), Mini Smooth

(Lisego Nosa Baileys Original x Finti Flyushka ot Forest Girts)

Bred by Anna Bubovich, owned and loved by Sharon at MandalaDax

Lilu is Ch RO, Ch HR, Ch BiH, Ch FBiH, FCI CIE, BiH Autumn Winner ’23; she has also opened her Dutch and Belgian championships, hopefully to be closed after puppies. She has been 3x BIG, 3x BIG2, 2x BIG3; BPISS-1, 2x BPIS-2; 9x BOB, 2x BOS; 11x CAC, 7x CACIB; she’s been shown 30x, and was class winner 22x.

We are so proud of our Lilu who has a wonderful personality, is very sweet, loves all people and animals and is an easy dog at home. We are so excited that she is in pup as this is our fourth attempt to have a litter with her!

The Dad:

MandalaDax Dream Puptjie (Dreamer), Mini Smooth

(Eschio Odno Chudo iz Mishkinogo Doma x Dachshaus Yesterday at MandalaDax)

Dreamer is our own breeding.  He is Ch RO, Ch MNE, Ch HR, Ch BiH, Ch FBiH, Ch BE, FCI CIE. Dreamer matured during Covid, which has shaped how he is as an adult.  He was never shown as a junior, as I took 17 months off of showing during the lockdowns. In his 3 shows in minor puppy, he was BBIS-3 in Croatia and selected for the last six in his other two shows, so pre-Covid he had good fun in the ring and seemed to enjoy it. As an adult, post-Covid, and starting out in Open class as he was already over 2 years old, he’s been Best in Group-2 at an international show, and 6x Best of Breed, he’s also had 9x Best Opposite Sex. Dreamer is simply not a show boy, he doesn’t love the ring; he’d prefer to stay at home, hanging out in the garden or on the sofa, or playing with the puppies. At 6.5 years old, he is retired and we won’t be bringing him out in Veteran Class, he would just rather hang out at home and we are just fine with that.  Not every dog is like Yestie, Bombur and Hermes, and loves to show off in the ring.  We’re hoping his puppies are more like young Dreamer in the ring!  But he’s got a lovely attitude towards life at home and is an easy boy here and loves visitors and good cuddles. If his puppies have that attitude, they will be wonderful companions.  Rosie, from his litter with Tinie, has really enjoyed her first show as a baby, and really enjoyed running around and meeting people.

Both Dreamer and Lilu are clear by DNA of PRA Cord1 and PRA; both carry the chocolate gene, so Black and Tan puppies as well as Chocolate and Tan puppies are possible. By DNA, Dreamer is N/CDDY, Lilu is CDDY/CDDY; N/CDDY seems to highly correlate with back scores or 0 and 1, and we believe it will make back issues less likely. This is still an evolving effort to understand how to decrease the risks of IVDD, and we are hoping we can be part of that effort, as we have several N/CDDY dachshunds here.

At the scan on day 36 post-mating, there were three puppies visible with strong heartbeats; at this point it’s unlikely that there are more than three puppies as we would have seen them – but it’s not impossible.  We hope that all three puppies we saw today will be born happy and healthy around 8-10th October.  We are over the moon that Lilu, on her fourth attempt, is carrying puppies!!!

This will be our “J” litter and the first litter carrying the MandalaDax affix in the Netherlands.

If you’d like to be on the waiting list, please send me an email or a message!  We have one family on the list already.

Yes, we had puppies in 2025!! Tinie’s litter was born in March!

After a break of more than 4 years, we’ve finally had a litter of puppies! Our dearest Tinie, Darmatic Martini Uut de Slikhoek, had a wonderful litter.

They were all born inside of one hour!!! It was a beautiful litter of two boys and two girls on the 24th of March. This was our “I” litter, and so the puppies are Imagination, Iridessa, Ifigenia and Irrepressible. But we called them Teddy, Rosie, Blossom and Jamie. As they have been going to their new homes, some of them are also getting new “house names”. Blossom is now Millie, and Jamie is now Zeus. But their pedigree names will stay the same!

We thought the dad of all the litters was our MandalaDax Dream Puptjie. At 5 weeks, the chipper came and gave them their microchips and took there DNA…. And that’s when the interesting thing happened — only one of the puppies was from Dreamer (Rosie)! And it happened because we REALLY wanted a litter from Tinie and Hermes (Hermes MandalaDax Bassotti di Spalato). Tinie comes from the Yestie/Makar side of our dogs, but Hermes came from the Vicky side – and I was really hoping to merge the two in this litter. Peony’s second litter was like that – it was Peony (Vicky’s daughter) x Dreamer (Yestie and Makar’s son). This one would have Yestie and Makar’s granddaughter mated to Vicky’s great grandson…. I was loving the idea. So we tried. With help for the mating. But it looked like nothing had worked, so as a backup to using Hermes, we used good old Dreamer who always does the business. So I get a letter that says, one or more pups isn’t from the sire you’ve listed on your mating form. Oh oh, I think, now what??? They asked if there was another male I had which it could be. And I think, well possibly Hermes?? So I hand matched the puppies DNA to Tinie, Dreamer and Hermes and I figured out that Rosie was from Dreamer and the other three definitely were Hermes. And indeed when they matched the DNA officially, that was the case. So Mr. I’m Not Interested was interested enough to produce three of the four puppies!! And I had a litter which had the puppies I wanted in it.

I wanted to keep a girl puppy from this combination.. But the girl pup from Hermes and Tinie had a white patch on her chest. So currently Rosie is living here but she has a home lined up for her in the new year when their farm renovation is done and when it’s a safe homestead for her to be living. So all of these pups are either in their homes or will be shortly.

We will absolutely repeat the mating of Hermes and Tinie next Summer when she comes in season again. She’s in season now but that’s too soon, and she’s on a 7.5 month cycle, so I imagine we may have new Tinie pups in June 2026 with some luck!
